Why don't we do what's good for us?

Really.  I wonder.  Last night, I surprised Carol, and took her to a special event at the local community college.   As you can imagine, there are a lot of college kids there.

There were some pretty young girls too, and way too many of them were fat.  Not overweight, fat.   Why?  How is that possible?

Listen, I spent enough time in my late teens and early 20's on college campuses, to know what a college girl should look like.  Why are so many more of them fat now, than back then?

I could blame lots of things, but what it comes down to is, why aren't they doing - what is good for them?

Like eating just a little bit better.  Like being just a little bit more active.

Notice I didn't say exercise.

I said being a little bit more active.

Back to my original thoughts.  "Why don't we do what's good for us?"

"Personally, I think - based on my observations - that people are just DOING less.
I notice more and more people are relatively PASSIVE - compared to the great 80's."

So what am I going to do today?

I'm gonna continue to actually DO MORE.  Write.  Move.  Take action on a few projects that matter.

Yesterday, I planted seeds.  Lots of Tobacco seeds.  Some Sweetgrass seeds.  Some Echanecia seeds.

2010 It's gonna be a good year.   It's gonna be an active year.

Leading and being by example.

Have a great day.

Okay,

I admit it.  I think my first journal entry was crap.  I'm not saying that it didn't have some great "stuff" in it, stuff that really could be useful, or make you think.

It was crap because it was more about "the world" and not all that much about me.

How many times a day do I do that, trick people into noticing something in the world, instead of INVITING them to notice "me" and "them".

And THIS is what I do for a living, for money, as a "job".  In coaching, I help people notice themselves.  Once you begin to really allow yourself to be noticed, by you, and by those around you, something magical happens.  You get to live, really live.

I notice that I am a little bit "something" while writing this.  It's not quite "scared", it's not quite "excited".  I suspect it's what feeling ALIVE is like.

That's what I do in my "job" too.  I help people notice they are alive.  People to often are asserting they are alive, but that's another story....

Anyhoo....

So today, I make a promise - to write as authentically as I am able.

Writing more authentically - to me - is the first step today in living more authentically.

Note:  People notice Carol and I have something special.   A big part of how that happens is in this journal page.  Enjoy.

I just wrote this article on Addiction.  I'd love to read your replies.

Addiction as a Path to God and Truth

Part of today's exploration in being honest, authentic, and purposeful.
